The last 12 months have seen a tough economic climate with the recession affecting us all, whether it be through unemployment, increased bills or falling saving rates. With many people having less disposable income, any money they do have is treasured all the more, making them increasingly keen to get the best deal from their financial provider whatever kind of product they are after, be it insurance or a credit card.

In many ways, that makes this year's awards all the more prestigious. Financial organisations that can continue to offer innovative, value for money products - while maintaining the highest standards of service - in such conditions are to be applauded and the voting has reflected this.
